trip to Wales - day 2

Here we are walking along the road toward the hill that would begin one of the most strenuous days that I would have in Great Britain.
This is the mountain that we were about to climb.
A view of the lake that we were walking next to in the first picture on this page.
Taking the first break, or perhaps, waiting for me to catch up. Athene, Owen and Rhiannon
An indication of how high we were getting up the mountain is the size of the cars in this picture. This man in the photo also walked quite a ways with his hands exactly as you see them in the picture. I on the other hand, used my hands quite a bit for balance.
Climbing ...
Athene and Rhiannon climbing ahead. Why are most of these pictures from behind? Because I was usually the last on in the progression up the mountain.
These two photos are one set of view photos that I would probably like to connect together at some point.
We had reached the summit of the mountain. There was quite a crowd up at the top, and it was easy to find someone to take the photo. We had lunch while up there, and there is a brilliant picture of Owen, which for his benefit, I won't post here. But send me an email ... :-)
What the heck is this guy doing? Well, this is what you do when you reach the top of the mountain. These two peaks are about 5 feet apart and about nine feet tall, with about a 10 degree downward rake toward you if you were standing where I was when I took the photo. The view from the top of one of the columns is disorienting and this photo or any of the photos that I took don't do the leap much justice.
A photo taken right next to the column, but still not representative of the view from the column.
The columns themselves. Again this picture does them no justice.
Heading down ...
Wild Goats.
Owen climbing.
This is the top of the second peak that we had ascended that day. The climb to this point, which there are not many photos of, was long, scary, exhilarating, difficult, and fun. All of those words are perfectly valid to describe it.
